Getting started

Your first conversation

Open Veyra, pick the language you want to practise and tap Talk. Your companion says hello and listens. Speak naturally; it follows whatever you want to talk about, corrects you gently and keeps the conversation going.

Understand everything in your language

Tap any word, correction or explanation to see it in your own language. Set your language under Settings → Language → My language, or turn on Show meanings in my language to see them always. The first time, iOS may download a small translation pack from Apple.

Word lists and exam practice

IELTS, GRE and interview vocabulary live under Learn. Each word shows its meaning in your language, a definition, an example, a “say it” drill and a quick recall check.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices does Veyra work on?

Veyra needs Apple Intelligence: iPhone 15 Pro or later, or an iPad with Apple Intelligence, running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. On other devices the app opens, but conversations are not available.

Veyra says Apple Intelligence is not available

1. Check your device is supported (above) and updated to iOS 26 or later.
2. Open iOS Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri and turn Apple Intelligence on.
3. Wait for the on-device model to finish downloading. Keep Wi-Fi and power connected; it can take a while. Then reopen Veyra.

Also make sure your device language and Siri language are supported by Apple Intelligence.

Is my data private? Do I need an account?

There is no account. Your conversations, memory and progress stay on your device. See the Privacy Policy.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Conversations and translations run on your device. Some languages need a one-time download of speech or translation assets, and ads and purchases need a connection.

The voice sounds robotic. How do I get a better one?

Download a Premium voice from Apple:

1. Open iOS Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak (on some versions Spoken Content) → Voices.
2. Choose the language, then tap a voice marked Premium or Enhanced and download it.
3. Return to Veyra. It uses the best installed voice automatically. With Veyra Plus you can also hand-pick a voice or use Personal Voice.

If you cannot find the page, search Settings for “Voices”.

How do ads and the free version work?

Free users see ads. For the first 12 hours after you open Veyra, all Plus features are unlocked. After that, Veyra Plus removes ads and unlocks every companion, voice and mode. Some features can be unlocked for a while by watching an ad.

How do I subscribe, cancel or restore?

Subscribe from Settings → Veyra Plus. Cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. To restore after reinstalling or on a new device, tap Restore purchases in Veyra Plus settings. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I changed phones. Is my progress transferred?

Progress lives on your device and follows a device backup and restore. Your Plus subscription follows your Apple Account; tap Restore purchases.

How do I delete my data?

Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all data, or delete the app. We hold no copy.

Privacy choices for ads and analytics

Settings → Privacy & data: Ad privacy options and Share anonymous usage & crash reports. Tracking can also be changed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Are the romantic companions explicit?

No. They are affectionate but never sexually explicit, and they require a one-time confirmation that you are 17 or older.

Which languages are supported?

You can practise 16 languages. The app itself is available in 17: English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Korean, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Siri, widgets and the Lock Screen

Say “Start a 5-minute talk in Veyra” to Siri, add the Veyra widget to your Home Screen for your progress number, and watch a conversation's Live Activity on the Lock Screen.

Troubleshooting

The microphone or speech recognition does not work

• Allow both Microphone and Speech Recognition in iOS Settings → Veyra.
• Check the language you are practising is installed for dictation under Settings → General → Keyboard → Dictation Languages.
• The first use may need to download a speech model. Stay on Wi-Fi for a moment and try again.

Meanings in my language do not appear

• Check Settings → Language → My language is set to the language you expect.
• Accept the translation pack download when iOS offers it. Packs are small and work offline afterwards.
• Some language pairs are not supported by Apple's translation yet. In that case Veyra shows the English definition.

Replies are slow or the device gets warm

The model runs on your device, so the first reply after a cold start takes longest. Veyra shortens its replies automatically when the device runs hot. Closing other heavy apps and keeping iOS up to date helps.

Reminders are not arriving

• Check iOS Settings → Notifications → Veyra is allowed.
• Check a Focus or Do Not Disturb schedule is not holding them back. Veyra respects Focus filters you set.

Requirements

Veyra requires iOS 26 or later and an Apple Intelligence compatible iPhone or iPad. Where a feature is unavailable on your device, Veyra falls back rather than failing.
